Born and raised in San Francisco, Gilda (JILL-duh) comes by her musical talents naturally. Her parents were professional opera singers who filled the house with song encouraging Gilda's musical ambitions with training in the rigors of classical music. But as Gilda puts it, "I just couldn't play it straight."She made each song her own, decorating each melody with precocious vocal technique. Though she could sing a soaring aria, jazz beckoned.
Gilda attended San Marin High School in Novato, CA. There her talents became public in the leading role of "Hello, Dolly!" She then attended Dominican University of California in San Rafael, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree with a Creative Arts emphasis. Gilda trained in dance, music, piano, composition, musical theatre, and acting. Her college classmates remember Gilda as a whirl of talent and energy" an actress, a dancer, and a singer" a true triple threat.
After college, Gilda began her professional career performing in and around the San Francisco Bay Area. Though her stateside success was certain, she was intrigued by tales of a thriving jazz scene in Paris. She packed her bags and struck out for Europe. She didn't speak French. She knew no one. She quickly changed that. She studied the language, introduced herself to the music community, and soon Gilda had regular employment singing in the night clubs and festivals throughout France and Europe. Over the last decade, she has traveled the globe, from Paris to Hong Kong to Africa, sharing her soulful stylings of American standards.

A few years ago, Gilda got a call from a well-regarded Parisian pianist who was in search of a singer for an upcoming gig. They met and (pardon the cliché) have been making beautiful music together since. The past two years have been particularly fruitful. Gilda and Patrice Galas recently produced "The Best is Yet to Come,"a joyful selection of jazz standards sung by Gilda and backed by Patrice and other European jazz greats. The most rewarding production of late is two-year-old daughter, Anaïs-the sweetest melody yet to touch their lives.

Though booked well into the future throughout Europe, Gilda and Patrice look forward to performing in the United States more frequently.
